In May 2000 the department of environment transprot and the regions published a report titled "Towards a Language of Sustainable Development"(http://www.defra.gov.uk/environment/sustainable/educpanel/language/).the report set out the results of a research project investingating ways of encourtaging better understanding of the term sustainable development. the report concluded that understanding could be promoted by:
unbundling the complex set of inter linked issues encompassed by the concept:and relating individual elements as closely as possible to the ways people live their lives.
in respnse to these finding our are asked to prepare powerpoint slides and more detailed speakers notes which could be used as a basis of 15mins presentation by sustainability officers to community groups. the presentation should be based around the main stands of sustainable development:
1 social progress that recognised the needs of everyone
2 effective protection of the environment
3 prudent use of natural resources
4 maintenance of high and stable levels of economic growth and employment
